A little about us.
Welcome to Ambient Press, where stories come alive with a unique blend of artistry and innovation. We are a creative animation studio led by the directing duo of Jake Wegesin and Frankie Principe. Our foundation is an honest belief in the magic of storytelling and the power of visuals to inspire, educate, and entertain. In every new project, we are looking for stories that prioritize an emotional core in addition to sheer spectacle. Whether through short films, commercials, or interactive experiences, we aim to bring imagination into every frame.
Our purpose.
At Ambient Press, we believe that every project is an opportunity to communicate unique perspectives and create memorable characters. We strive to create viewing experiences that resonate emotionally and visually, blending traditional storytelling techniques with cutting-edge technology. Our goal is to captivate audiences and make lasting impressions, one story at a time.

A little about the directors.
Jake Wegesin is currently based in the southwest of France, but has spent time living across the USA, Canada, England, New Zealand, and Denmark. His directing style brings a tactile, stop-motion-inspired approach to animation that is infused with humor, creative timing, and heartfelt sincerity. Having launched Ambient Press in 2022 with the short film “The Ultimate Space Race,” which was selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick, Wegesin’s other original works include the short films “Beyond,” “Next Flight Home,” and “Kanon.” Formerly a freelance 3D artist working worldwide with studios as a technical and motion graphics artist, with the birth of Ambient Press, he solidified his focus on bringing joy and originality to original stories.
Frankie Principe, originally from New York and now based in Auckland, brings a vast expertise in animation, character design, composition, color, and story. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts traditional animation program, Principe’s track record as a prolific motion designer has impacted countless projects for major studios in New York and beyond. In joining Ambient Press, Frankie inspires the continued evolution of our ability to create unique characters and create stories with purpose and heart.
Where did the name Ambient Press come from?
Our name is rooted in our mission: to tell stories that resonate widely and deeply. Historically, the press has been a powerful tool for sharing ideas, bringing knowledge and stories to the public on a grand scale. Ambient light, on the other hand, has a natural ability to envelop spaces with a soft, approachable glow. Together, these concepts reflect our studio’s vision.
At Ambient Press, we aim to reach diverse audiences through a wide range of creative abilities — from developing unique narratives and designing relatable characters to crafting intricate visual effects. Like ambient light, our stories are designed to immerse and invite; like the press, they’re built to communicate and connect. These inspirations gave life to the name Ambient Press, embodying our passion for storytelling and our commitment to impactful animation.
