BROMPTON
At Ambient Press, our roots have always been in storytelling. Whether we are building gripping new worlds or bringing unique and loveable characters to life, our work has always centered on the imaginative and the emotional side of things. As such, product videos have not been one of our main focuses. But when a product inspires creativity and experimentation, we are eager to take a deeper look. That is what drew us to Brompton Cycles and their range of folding bikes. As fans of the brand, we were fascinated by a machine that is not just a tool for transport but a compact, transformative design built with both imagination and purpose. From the outset, we were intrigued by how this product stands apart in the cycling world. It is adaptable. Playful. Inventive.
This animation was created as a self-initiated exploration, inspired by Brompton’s spirit. We approached this as a chance to echo the values we associate with Brompton: versatility, momentum, and originality. This animation follows the bike’s own journey, from the first spark of an idea building into a complete product. It begins with a nod to where the bikes are made and the abstract concept of folding, then grows more grounded as the central frame emerges, forming the skeleton of the design. Components assemble one by one, building momentum until the back wheel clicks into place, completing the build. The momentum then carries forward into the second half, highlighting the C-Line’s full range of motion, adaptable design, and bold color options.
Like with our narrative short films, the piece was guided by principles of bold movement, rhythm, and visual storytelling, carrying the viewer from moment to moment. Even in a product centred video, we wanted to preserve the playfulness and emotion that typically define our work.
